Update on me

Well it has not been too long since I last posted here, which is a change. Here is a updated photo of me where I have changed my hair. I cut my long hair and put in a lot of streaks which makes me look blonde enjoy! Also I have some new photos coming up from this weekend I am shooting a few shoots for clients woo, photos to come.

Fun At Home

Well along with the orange candle I also had fun cooking this week along with taking some photos of the food I was cooking so here are some colorful photos of asparagus.

Orange Candle

So last week I had some time off, finally, and I decided to try out something I saw on the webs: an orange candle. It was actually pretty frustrating trying to get the orange to light but once I got it done it was pretty cool. It actually does work and it takes basically household items to get the candle to light. The only things you need for this is vegetable oil, an orange and a BBQ lighter.

Alright again I am going through a LONG stretch without posting, opps! Well here are some new instagram photos from my phone. Just a little something before the fun stuff happens. A lot of new projects that are up and coming. A few more photos of me because it is rare that I post them, or course more food stuff and my diploma of proof that I did graduate from college in photography!

Cupcakes

Some days when I have nothing going on I like to stay at home and bake and take photos. One thing I never did take was a photo of cupcakes while I was in school so I figured I should sit down and try to see if I could take a nice photo. This photo was done without any studio lights (yikes!) but I think I managed to do it well with the things I had around the house and with my speedlight. So with homemade cupcakes and a nice day, here is the final image. OH and this image I decided to have fun with actions in photoshop.

Behind the Scenes - Birds of Paradise

Well I have done quite a bit of shooting over the years and the one thing that I have not posted yet was a behind the scenes to how I do things. Well after my big crash I have lost a lot of my shooting set ups but I do have one stil left that I can post here to show a sorta step-by-step on how I lite an image. I will be using the birds of paradise shot to show how it was done.


1. First I started with the flower just swinging in the air like the rest of the shots I did with the flower just to see what was the best way to get the shot. But when I saw I was not getting the results that I was looking for so I had to show what I was doing to my teacher and then he came around and helped a lot.

2. So we clamped the flower (good thing the stem was very thick and wouldn't break). And I had it hanging up on a boom with black thread so that way it would stay in place. Next we positioned 4 lights with snoots attached to them in a specific spot so that way we would be getting the perfect lighting on the flower. 

3. Next we shot to make sure that the lights that we positioned were at the spot that we wanted which it turned out to work out perfectly when each light. One light was coming in from the back just to light the inside of the flower and to give a bit of rim lighting to the edge of the stem.

4. The next light was a bit of filler to give the flower more light and making sure the light wasn't too bright.

5. The next light was the last light to get the whole flower in light with the rim lighting on the other side to make the whole flower look good.

6. I never submit a photo without a little Lightroom, and Photoshop if it is needed. But since my photo came out a bit too hot, (red and yellow) I decided to make the colors more to what the flower really looked like. So with a bit of help from Lightroom I changed the colors, and then in Photoshop I took out the thread and I touched up some of the spots that were on the flower, and Voila! A beautiful shot of  flower.

Rose Series

Well well well, I know I haven't been posting in here for a while lately BUT things are finally getting back on track and where they need to be. SO with all that said, while I was looking through my old images I came across my old plant and flowers series that I did and I remember shooting a rose but it didn't work out quite the way I thought it would, but after playing a bit with a few images in Lightroom, WOW I think they look pretty awesome so here is the series. Enjoy!! =D
